City Kitty limits our services to the care of cats! We know by experience that cat specific in home care is THE BEST option for cats and the people who love them.
City Kitty is a Chicago-based in home cat care service focused on the north side, from Rogers Park to Lakeview, and as far west as Albany Park.

Gretel is available to answer all of your questions about City Kitty! New clients may submit the form on the Contact Us page. Existing clients may schedule care services online, via the client portal button located on the Services page and linked below. Gretel and each of the special cat sitters who help her are committed to making a deep connection with the health, well being and varied personalities of each cat in their care. In addition to offering cat care services such feeding, watering, litter scooping and of course, playing and cuddling, Gretel and several City Kitty cat sitters are highly experienced in medicating special needs cats and are uniquely skilled in working with shy cats. City Kitty Cat Care is insured and bonded, trained in pet first aid, and is a certified professional pet sitter through Pet Sitters International.
Please note: City Kitty will not accommodate every other day care for vacation coverage. This schedule is not ideal for monitoring feline health and also poses scheduling challenges.
SO how does this work?
Meet n Greet
Prior to your departure we schedule a 15-30 minute meet n greet so we can meet you and your cats and learn their care routine and pick up keys. Meeting cats in their home is very different than meeting them in a shelter because when we come into your home, we are entering their territory. I like to put my coat and bag on the floor by the entry for the kitties to check me out. I do this because I want them to remember my scent when I arrive later without you there to approve my presence. If your kitty has a favorite interactive toy, or treats I can offer, that also helps reassure them that I am a friend. My goal, from the feline perspective, is to be a fun, cuddly, food-bearing distraction between naps while you are away!
At the meeting we will go over their daily care routine and will also pick up two sets of tested keys and payment for the entire service, unless you would like to pay in advance online via the portal!
Communication and Updates!
One aspect that sets City Kitty apart from other services is an emphasis on communication. There are a series of steps for booking, scheduling, and confirming care to ensure no cat is missed. We also update you thoroughly about how your cats are doing during each visit while you are gone. You can also opt out of updates if you need to unplug, but almost no one does! We love our cats and our cats miss us when we travel. As caregivers who CARE, we want to be in touch with clients because no one knows the cat in front of us better than their primary guardian. Being apart causes anxiety for everyone. By sharing pictures, videos, and little notes about your kitty's shenanigans, we can help you relax and enjoy your time away!

Payment for entire service is due prior to our first scheduled care visit. You can pay using a credit card via the button below. You may also pay via PayPal, Zelle, cash, or check!
HOME?
Please be sure to inform us once you have returned home!!! We get very attached to our feline charges and although I confirm visit dates, errors are still possible. We worry if we do not hear that you are home when you are expected. We are more than willing to continue to visit your kitties if you are delayed. Please simply let us know as soon as you are made aware of the delay so we can work the extra visit into our schedules.
If we do not hear you are home within 24 hours of our last visit with your cats...WARNING.... we will show up at your door to make sure the cats have food and water and you will be charged for that visit even if you are sipping coffee in your bathrobe with a cat on your lap. Purr....
